Torvald- Torvald in the beginning is nice and loving towards Nora. But then he turns on her. When he says, “A hypocritical liar, even worse going behind my back.” Then he finds Kroonstad’s letter then his outlook on Nora completely changes. He yells and screams at her. This really shows he does not love Nora.
The Helmer marriage first appears to be loving but then Torvald yells at Nora and we see the real side of Torvald. It shows that Torvald doesn’t really love Nora either. Torvalds the self centered one not Nora. This makes Nora decide to leave him. “You’re a wretched animal,” said by Torvald.
Krogstad- Krogstad first appears to be bitter, vengeful but then he is reunited with Mrs. Linde. When they were younger Krogstad and Mrs.Linde were in love. But she married someone else because he could not support her. Mrs. Linde tells him “Suppose these two shipwreck souls could join hands?” She wants to be with him but he doesn’t believe her at first.
Mrs. Linde- At first Mrs.Linde appears to be independent self-sufficient woman, but then we discover she actually wants someone to care for. When she and Krogstad are talking she tells him, “No one cares about no one to care for.” I think she is telling him she wants to be around someone and to care for them.
Dr. Rank- Dr. Rank first appears to be Torvald’s best friend, but then we discover he is in love with Nora. As they talk together while Torvald is gone, he explains his love by saying, “That I have loved you as deeply as anyone else has.” He also told her he is just close to Torvald to be close to her. Nora flirted with him and stuff but she didn’t think anything of it.
